After Care Instructions

  1. Leave the bandage on for a minimum of 1 hours (no longer than 12 hours). Do not remove the bandage until you are ready to wash the tattoo.
  2. Immediately upon removing the bandage, wash the tattoo thoroughly using an antibacterial soap, luke warm water and your fingertips (no wash cloths). Be sure to rinse away all secretions and soap residue.
  3. Pat the tattoo with a soft clean towel.
  4. Always allow the tattoo to dry before applying ointment. Apply a small amount of ointment (bacitracin or triple-antibiotic) and massage into tattoo. DO NOT apply a thick coat and DO NOT re-bandage as your skin needs to breathe. DO NOT use (vaseline, petroleum jelly, alcohol or peroxide).
  5. You should be washing the tattoo several times a day ( 3-4 times at a minimum) throughout the healing process. Applying a light coat of ointment afterwards.
  6. Apply the ointment as often as needed to keep the tattoo from drying out. DO NOT LET YOUR TATTOO DRY OUT.
  7. For the first couple of days you may experience oozing. This is normal. If your tattoo oozes, wash it off using the method described above, then reapply the ointment.
  8. In 2-4 days your tattoo will begin to peel. DO NOT pick, rub or scratch the tattoo. Let the peeling fall off naturally.
  9. Avoid direct sunlight on your tattoo for 2 weeks, this also includes tanning beds.
  10. No swimming, saunas or hot tubs for two weeks as saltwater and chlorine act as a bleach and can ruin your tattoo Also, too much water exposure can cause wrinkling and puckering of the skin which can also damage your new tattoo.
  11. When your tattoo is done peeling, stop using the ointment and apply unscented hand lotion (Lubriderm) 3-4 times daily for an additional week.
  12. Should your tattoo become inflamed or looks to be infected, please seek medical attention immediately.
